General Description

Welcome to THE BUTLER HOUSE HISTORIC BED & BREAKFAST (formerly known as SkyeHaven)! English Country charm in the heart of Historic Old Town. This charming historic (circa 1787) Niagara-On-The-Lake bed and breakfast has been newly renovated and redecorated to offer our guests a relaxing, comfortable and memorable visit to &ldquo the prettiest town in Canada&rdquo . We are a short stroll to the Shaw Festival Theatres and the quaint downtown shops, and offer quick access to the hiking trails, bicycle trails, and wineries. A lovely 3 course breakfast is served at 9 each day, with fresh home-baked goods, coffee and tea available from 7:30. The original structure of The Butler House was built by Nat Barnum sometime around 1787-1789 as a one room cabin (which is the present guest living room). No streets had been laid out at this point in time, and the cabin's front door would have been between the present living room and dining room. During the War of 1812-1813, it is possible that the cabin was unoccupied, because it does not appear to have been burned by the Americans in Dec. of 1813, as was most of downtown Niagara-on-the-Lake. It is believed by the Historic Society that the original cabin was used by Col. John Butler as the secret meeting place of the militia. The original pine floorboards used on the second floor are of random width, up to approximately 20 inches, and are said to have been salvaged from the ruins of the burning of Niagara-on-the-Lake during the War of 1812. Our three guests rooms are: The Blue Room - Located on the ground floor, the Blue Room offers a beautiful Queen Bed, with high quality linens, a settee and second sitting area. The English Country dAMPEReacuteSEMIKcor features Wedgewood blue walls, complemented by blue and white porcelain, and antique fashion prints. All rooms feature central air, iPad/iPhone compatible alarms, in-room WiFi and luxurious bathrobes and toiletries. The large en-suite bath features a walk-in shower and double vanity. The Green Room &ndash This bright and spacious room&rsquo s three windows, historic pine floors and beamed ceiling are complemented by its charming English Country dAMPEReacuteSEMIKcor. Located on the second floor, the Green Room features a King Bed, with beautiful linens, a sitting area, and rocking chair. The en-suite bathroom has a walk-in shower, luxurious bathrobes and amenities. All rooms feature central air, iPad/iPhone compatible alarms, and in-room WiFi. The Black and White Room - Located on the second floor, the Black and White Room can be configured as a King Bed or two Twin Beds. Black and white toile and pale lemon walls set the fresh and relaxing tone for this airy and spacious room. The three windows wash the room in daylight. All rooms feature central air,iPad/iPhone compatible alarms, in-room WiFi and luxurious bathrobes and toiletries. The private bath features an oversize soaker tub, overlooking the garden (but not overlooked!), and a separate shower stall. Our home features central air conditioning, and in-room WiFi. It retains its original pine floors and oak beams throughout. The Butler House offers a beautiful, tranquil landscaped garden in which to sit and relax, perhaps enjoying a glass of wine from a local vineyard. We offer plenty of parking. Sorry, no pets are allowed. The Butler House is a smoke free facility. Our home is adult oriented. Friday and Saturday Check-In requires a minimum stay of 2 nights. Rooms are $205/$195 CAD per room, per night during high season (June-October) and holidays, $175 CAD per room/per night shoulder season (April, May and November) and $155 CAD per room/per night during low season (December-March). Credit Card is required to reserve the room. Payment may be made by Credit Card, Debit Card, Personal Cheques, or Cash. Gift Certificates are available. Check in is between 2 and 5, unless otherwise arranged with us. Check out is 11.
